LIFE UPDATE

Life Update/What’s On My Mind

Good Morning Everyone!

I know it has been a while since my last post, and I just wanted to share some things with you. For example:

  • I got a wonderful puppy named Lilith, who needed a new home when I needed a friend.
  • I got promoted to CPT in December of last year.
  • I went -and graduated- the Engineer Captain’s Career Course from OCT 20-APR 21.
  • I moved to Idaho! Will be here as a Plans Officer for an Engineer Battalion in the area.
  • Said move also happened with my Partner, Dan, who has been just instrumental in helping me with life for the past couple of months.

I’ve accomplished some pretty great things this year, and yet….

I still struggle with my mental wellbeing. Now that we are finally here, all moved in, I found that before work officially starts, I have a lot of time on my hands, and it often makes me feel a variety of emotions. As someone who is always busy, a lot of sudden free time just is not good for me. Does anyone else feel this way? (I’ve joined a boxing gym and start this week, but there are only so many hours in the day that one can work out!)

I’ve realized I have no hobbies. My job kept me so busy during return from deployment and throughout the Pandemic that I didn’t have time nor the need to find a hobby; now that I find myself in this rut, I can sympathize with those who struggled with needing something to fill their days, to find something that gave them purpose.

I remembered that I created this website a couple of years ago (thank you to everyone who’s still around) to write things about my passions – boxing, beauty, and whatever I could find that made me happy- and just sat down this morning to write some thoughts. I needed to remind myself that at times, life puts you in the corner, and it’s up to you as to how you get yourself out of the ropes. Mentally, I’m a little low, and I know I’m not the only one that feels this way, so if you’re reading this and are feeling a little lost, know that I too am here. It happens to the best of us.

So, I’m trying to commit myself to putting my thoughts on this blog once a week, as a way to get creative, or just sit here and take the time to chat with anyone who wants to read my thoughts. Let me know if you like it/can relate/etc., and maybe give me some ideas to write about here! Could be anything- growing up, personal experiences in the Military, beauty, challenges, you name it! Above all, thank you for continuing to read this and giving men an outlet, I truly appreciate all of you.

-Candelita
